The curricula for the elementary and the high schools are based on international educational standards, with due reference being given to the current syllabi in Macedonia. Support for the development of comprehensive competences of the schoolchildren is based both on the development of professional and methodological competences as on the development of social and subject competences. Account is taken here of the concept of lifelong learning as proposed by the European Commission. This is reflected in the key focal points of the elementary and high schools:
• development of media literacy

development of language skills
•
development of social and subject competences
In accordance with the Bologna process the faculties of the University are intended to guarantee bachelor and master degrees with the ECTS performance-based points system. There are also plans for the integration of a diploma supplement.
